“AUTHENTIC” is the collection that describes my process of researching what it means to be an African woman to me.
Above all, I realized that, as important as it is for me to be seen and recognized as an African woman, at the same time I refuse to be a prisoner of a singular identity.
I also find it absolutely dangerous to speak of “the” African woman as if she were a homogeneous group. Because there are as many possibilities as there are women.
Being able to touch the very essence of who I am, outside of the roles and expectations of society, finding my authentic self is for me the ultimate goal.
