AN INTRODUCTION

NIANGO is a platform and fashion brand dedicated to creating an inclusive environment within the fashion and clothing-making industry.

Our mission is to shift the narrative around the representation and contribution of marginalized groups' know-how or craftsmanship in the Fashion Industry and to do it in a way that represents and respects their spirit, culture, and approach to transactions.

We fulfill this mission by raising awareness around non-mainstream know-how, especially those made by communities of women artisans, minorities, and marginalized communities.

We also challenge mainstream fashion by emphasizing transparency in our processes, fair transactions, and promoting artisanal and traditional know-how of women's communities while raising awareness of the issues affecting them

OUR FOUNDER

My name is Rachel-Diane EPOUPA. I am an advisor in Equity Diversity and Inclusion, a student in psychology, and the Founder of Niango.

I want to share with you what some of my theories are:

-  A world will be a happier and safer place for everyone to exist when we will learn to value and navigate our differences and when we will develop our ability to hold multiple truths.

-  It is possible to create transactions that are mutually beneficial and ethical in nature.

I share these theories with you because Niango is about going until the end of these theories and working on making them a reality.

I have found fundamental tools for self-expression and connection in fashion and creation that I want to share with like-minded people. Learning, sharing, and experiencing community bounding are my happiest places.

I desire to share, as I learn about non-mainstream handmade and traditional know-how, unknown or marginalized from the fashion industry, to connect with communities of women worldwide and raise awareness around issues they face.

As a result of these interactions, we may produce quality pieces that will be showcased on our website. These products are ethical in nature as we firmly believe in compensating our collaborators fairly and donating to the organizations and communities of women who participated in our projects.

I invite anyone willing to contribute to join me in this mission.
